Experimental Cyanotypes

While traditional cyanotypes are exposed to UV for about 10-15 minutes, wet, experimental cyanotypes left outside for 4 or many more hours. The outcome is unpredictable: colours- from the plants’ own natural pigments, the addition of vinegar, soap, turmeric, alcohol, extra cyanotype liquid, and whatever else calls to the print maker – stray wildly from the traditional blue and white. Here, greens, ochres, browns, and purples will sometimes appear after long exposures.
